Have
you taken your work experience in a golf related role?
Why not send us a report and we will feature it here.
My work experience took place with the kind permision of my own
golf course at Swarland Hall in Northumberland, held during the
last two weeks of the school term before the summer break.
My work was to assist the green keepers from 07.00hrs to 15.30hrs
Monday to Friday, I learned to work with the all the greenkeepers
and the various equipment they used to complete all the daily tasks.
At first I found it hard work, especially having to get up at 05.30hrs
to drive 20 miles to start for 07.00hrs. I learned to cut fairways,
cut tee boxes, change the posisions of the pins, and clean up bunkers,
all before the course was due to open, but the best part was to
find lost golf balls, I found over 100 in total, all good quality.
May I take this opportunity to thank the club for having me, and
in particular the green keepers.
For my work experience I worked at Bedlingtonshire Golf Club to
work in the pro shop with my coach Marcus Webb.
I found it enjoyable and very interesting I found out what a professionals
job consists of such as fixing golf clubs, collecting orders, dealing
with customers, answering the phone, writing out cards and a bit
more. I also worked in the bar when there was an big competition
and helped with the meals.
I really enjoyed my work experience at Bedlington and I was also
able to play golf on the course and practice on the practice area,
putting green and chipping green. Overall my work experience has
encouraged me even more to do something in golf as a career.
